Purpose of the job

  • This is an internship position typically held by a junior, senior or graduate level college student with an interest in technology or related field of study. The incumbent will assist with learning the core concepts of corporate project management.

  • College coursework related to technology and/or project management.

ESSENTIAL job functions AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The ideal Intern Project Coordinator will learn the skills necessary to lead and manage corporate projects that cover multiple business areas and multiple systems.  They will partake in definitional portions of the project including scope, business requirements, reporting and testing.  They will assist the Project Manager in documentation, communication, resource and financial reporting, as well as have the opportunity to provide suggestions to streamline project processes and encourage collaboration among the project team.

Intern - Performs job functions under close supervision or peer review

  • Use sound project management methodology and demonstrate solid time management skills.
  • Track and manage projects using Gantt charts and other tracking / communication tools.
  • Assist with creation of presentations.
  • Assist with documentation of project scope, objectives, project plans, schedules, resource plans, and or status reports. 
  • Track and update action items, risks and issues logs.
  • Scribe and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Schedule project meetings and maintain meeting calendar.
  • Update project SharePoint site.
  • Communicate with IT and Business stakeholders.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Required Job Skills

  • Intermediate PC proficiency
  • High level proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Project.
  • Basic project management concepts and methods.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work with multiple priorities, sometimes under limited time constraints.
  • Perserverance in the face of resistance or setbacks.
  • Creativity and innovative problem-solving abilities
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to maintain positive working relationship with others.            
  • Verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy.
  • Analytical knowledge to generate reports based on available data and make decisions based on reported data.
  • Build synergy with a diverse team in an ever changing environment.
