PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The brand content writer will write and manage communications to fulfill executive and stakeholder content for BCBSAZ and all its segments of business. Writing deliverables may include bylined articles, script writing, research-specific articles and content, blog posts, and other executive communications.
Required Work Experience
5 years of experience in the research, development, writing, and managing of executive thought leadership, content marketing and collateral pieces.
6 years of experience in content marketing, journalism, communications, or related field
4 years of project management experience
2 years Social Media marketing experience
7 years of experience writing for business audiences
5 years of experience writing for consumers
7 years of experience writing for Executive and Sr. Level Management
5 years of experience drafting media materials
High School Diploma or GED in general field of study
Preferred Work Experience
4 years of experience managing projects from concept to implementation
2 years of experience working within the health industry
4 years of experience managing marketing projects from inception to implementation
3 years of experience working with email / digital / social communication tools
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, Journalism, Communications or related field of study
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a seasoned project manager with strong organizational and operational skills, work directly with executives and internal stakeholders to create and/or modify content marketing pieces that advance the company’s brand message to core external audiences.
Help guide editorial direction provided by stakeholders and leadership, to ensure it aligns to larger marketing strategies, brand campaigns and key company initiatives. Provide input into project plans for area of responsibility with management oversight
Evaluate competitor materials to understand the public relations messaging
Suggest and create content aligned with the media relations strategy, brand marketing strategies, and key company initiatives
Develop byline articles, stories and features, that helps tell our story around products, people, and partnerships, address issues and elaborate on our company’s mission, vision, and values
Write materials for external distribution including byline articles, blog posts, videos scripts, social media posts and/or stories and a variety of other materials to enhance the value of our company’s brand image among targeted audiences.
Monitor ongoing healthcare trends, news and topics
Acquire a working knowledge of BCBSAZ product offerings, as well as local and national health-related trends and news.
Be proactive in communicating with clients about status of projects to set expectations
Attend cross team meetings
Work under the general supervision of the Manager, Pubic Relations and Social Media Strategy
Create and execute communications plans to achieve company goals, including meeting with key stakeholders in the organization to obtain necessary approvals.
Participate by offering recommendations in cross team and cross department meetings
Consult and provide recommendations to clients based on the goals they outline
Maintain our overall messaging platform and ensure communications are on-brand and consistent in terms of style and execution
Meaningfully contribute to communications strategies and collateral for major internal and external communications initiatives
Evaluate existing communications and offer/implement new ways to approach them to increase the value and impact
Create new angles and content types for a given topic and drive through completion
Work under management direction to develop project briefs
Develop business presentations, newsletter articles, social media communications and media relations collateral
Deliver work that has been fact checked, reviewed for oversights and on-time
Ensure content adheres to BCBSAZ brand and style guidelines.
Ensure that all communications adhere to corporate and regulatory compliance standards and secure necessary approvals of content where required.
The person may also support special projects as required by the business. Projects include print media, broadcast media, web-based communication, social media, video, and other marketing collateral materials.
Work a full-time schedule. Full-time is defined as working at least 40 hours per week
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, while coordinating multiple projects within the assigned deadlines.
Perform all other duties as assigned.

This position will also require an ability to collaborate with marketing and creative teams to present content in new and creative ways, such as interactive stories, infographics, videos etc.
Must have experience and understanding of content writing, with a focus on storytelling and brand journalism.
