Purpose of the job

 

The Business Intelligence (BI) Manager is responsible for leading the strategic design, creation, and maintenance of sustainable reporting solutions to support data-driven decisions. Leads and facilitates significant analytic initiatives in support of business strategies. They will grow and develop the team and manage the processes and people responsible for accurate data collection, modeling and visualization. Identifies and implements solutions that enable self-service functionality while maintaining data integrity. Partners with business leaders across the organization to support and implement high-quality, data-driven solutions. Stays current on all processes, techniques, tools, and industry best practices to ensure BlueCross BlueShield of Arizona is at the forefront of Business Intelligence solutions. The manager will implement and support the growth of a Business Intelligence focused culture within the organization.

 

 

ESSENTIAL job functions AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 
 

 

  • Develop and implement an analytics strategy that enables our business strategy
  • Partner with business leaders to understand reporting and analytics needs in their functions.
  • Build, develop and maintain data models, reporting systems, dashboards and performance metrics that support key business functions.
  • Partner with business owners to prioritize projects to ensure the most important items are being successfully addressed.
  • Develop and maintain analytics architecture aligned with business strategy and IT guiding principles.
  • Partner with IT to identify and store required data sets.
  • Partner with stakeholders to plan, communicate and deliver projects successfully and on time.
  • Provide regular communications on the status of assigned items, both currently being worked and those in the backlog.
  • Provide analytics expertise across the operational segments.
  • Anticipate future demands of initiatives related to people, technology, budget and business within their department and design/implement solutions to meet the needs.
  • Develop and manage a strong Business Intelligence team through positive employee engagement and effective talent management.
  • Develop skills and talents of direct reports through coaching, mentoring and periodic performance reviews.
  • Provide ad-hoc data analysis and support to business functions.
  • Oversee day-to-day team administration by coaching and motivating Business Intelligence staff and ensure assigned workloads are correctly delivered on time.
  • Engage the support and buy-in of leaders within the organization by promoting the importance and value of the Business Intelligence model and processes.
  • Lead and participate in other corporate projects as assigned. 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • The position requires a full-time work schedule.  Full-time is defined as working at least 40 hours per week, plus any additional hours as requested or as needed to meet business requirements.
